This is more of a conceptual skill - the ability to visualize an idea, and draw/build it. I have used it in creating databases in MS Access to track information, solve reporting problems, and bridge ERP and other software systems.

Having had some training in drafting, I am able to read and interpret drawings (paper or CAD). I have used it in some of my passtime projects, but also at work in providing commentary on engineering work prior to submission to suppliers. In one instance, I pointed out that a lack of units of measure on some pages of drawings may lead to production issues if they would be separated. This was likely, given often work is divided in a large shop or factory. It is often also funny when and where some skills may come in handy.

I also have been told I have a good sense of interior design and layout - good for handyman projects around the house.
